Alliance of Papuan Students Demonstration at the Presidential Palace to Open National Dialogue between Jakarta and West Papua

Tens of Papuan students, members or the Alliance of Papuan Students (AMP) International held peaceful demonstration at the Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta, on Friday 22 October 2004. They demanded a dialogue which is democratic and civilised to resolve political conflicts in West Papua. Demanding the Newly Elected President to Fulfill Promises Made also demanded investigation of various human rights violations in West Papua.

Demonstrators displayed banners demanding Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Jusuf Kalla to resolve conflict in West Papua and asked for a democratic dialogue.
The demonsrators asked the newly elected President to hold a peaceful and democratic solution to the conflicts, which is a way of civilised people today.
