Your Excellency Sir, we the undersigned below members, elders and leaders of Sengwer (Cherangany) an ethnic minority hunter-gatherer indigenous peoples kindly request for humane intervention to bring to end, urgently, territorial expansion of Pokot tribe through cattle rustling.

Arm Sengwer Indigenous Peoples with guns to guard their lives and Property

Sir, we hereby call for government’s, urgent and immediate, action to arm Sengwer indigenous peoples living along Cherangany hills with atleast 300 guns (100 guns each in West Pokot, Marakwet and Trans Nzoia) to enable the community fight against the increasing cattle rustling that has hit Talau (West Pokot), Kapolet (Trans Nzoia) and Rogorr (Marakwet). The community is getting concerned since there’s very little action taken by the government even after being provided with reliable intelligence reports.

86 arrested members of Sengwer indigenous peoples released

The 86 members of Sengwer an ethnic minority hunter-gatherers arrested last Thursday were charged of felony by Kitale court on friday and each given bond of Kshs 2000. By Saturday in the afternoon only one person was still in the police cell in Kapenguria.
