Mon, 02/04/2008 - Realizing that the Ogiek had fled the area around Chepyuk and took refuge at Teldet and Chepkitale, the Sabaot Land Defense Force (SLDF), Kenya's most dangerous and notorious, at least 1000 men strong armed militia, has now taken advantage of the lawlessness and the commitments of the police elsewhere to hunt and kill the Ogiek like rabbits.

On 1 December the police arrested at least 36 Papuans for flying the Morning Star flag in Kwamki Lama, district of Mimika Baru. Seven are due to be charged for the crime of makar (rebellion) at the district court.

State Terror in West Papua by Indonesia. Matius Bunai was last seen alive three weeks ago today when he left a church service in the town of Nabire in the Indonesian province of Papua. His body, beaten and lacerated, was found dumped in the street the following morning. His neighbour, Ones Keiya, was still alive, just, when he was found with similar wounds, in similar circumstances, two weeks before. He died in hospital two hours later.

Tue, 07/17/2007 - Indonesian police have been accused of killing, raping and torturing civilians with impunity in the province of Papua.

The New York-based group Human Rights Watch (HRW) said the most serious abuses were being carried out during the hunt for separatists.

Opposition to Indonesian rule in the isolated province has simmered since Jakarta took over from Dutch colonial control in 1963.

Indonesian Police Chief General Sutanto denied any abuses were taking place.

Fri, 07/06/2007 - JAKARTA (AP): Indonesian security forces killed and beat unarmed civilians and raped women during recent operations against separatists in Papua province, Human Rights Watch alleged in a report released Thursday.

Indonesia's police chief denied any abuses were taking place in the isolated region, where mistrust between indigenous people and security forces runs high after years of bloody military crackdowns.

And during that time the international community has been fed with false information and unjustified reports. The information was not based on the reality in West Papua.
